Description

Enjoy these Maple Glazed Donut Muffins, a cozy treat that tastes like you spent all day baking but comes together easily. They bring that warm, comforting feeling right to your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup (for batter)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk or cream (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate small bowl, mix the 1/2 cup milk with the 1/4 cup maple syrup.
  6. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and the wet (milk/maple syrup) mixture to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix only until just combined. Do not overmix.
  7. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
  8. Bake for 16 to 18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the muffins cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. While the muffins cool, prepare the glaze: Whisk together the powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk/cream, and 1 tablespoon maple syrup until smooth. Add more liquid by the teaspoon if the glaze is too thick.
  10. Once muffins are cool, dip the tops into the maple glaze, allowing the excess to drip off. Let the glaze set before serving.

Notes

  • Use real maple syrup for the best flavor in both the batter and the glaze.
  • These muffins taste best the day they are made, capturing that fresh donut shop feel.
  • If you prefer a thinner glaze, add a tiny bit more milk to the glaze mixture.
