Description
Enjoy these Maple Glazed Donut Muffins, a cozy treat that tastes like you spent all day baking but comes together easily. They bring that warm, comforting feeling right to your kitchen.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup (for batter)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons milk or cream (for glaze)
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate small bowl, mix the 1/2 cup milk with the 1/4 cup maple syrup.
- Alternate adding the dry ingredients and the wet (milk/maple syrup) mixture to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix only until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 16 to 18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the muffins cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- While the muffins cool, prepare the glaze: Whisk together the powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk/cream, and 1 tablespoon maple syrup until smooth. Add more liquid by the teaspoon if the glaze is too thick.
- Once muffins are cool, dip the tops into the maple glaze, allowing the excess to drip off. Let the glaze set before serving.
Notes
- Use real maple syrup for the best flavor in both the batter and the glaze.
- These muffins taste best the day they are made, capturing that fresh donut shop feel.
- If you prefer a thinner glaze, add a tiny bit more milk to the glaze mixture.
