Description
Follow these steps to cook moist salmon fillets with crispy skin using a simple garlic butter sauce on the stovetop.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 Salmon fillets (about 6 oz each, skin on preferred)
- 1 tablespoon Olive oil
- 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1/8 teaspoon Black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Pat the salmon fillets completely dry using paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the hot skillet. Press gently on the fillets for 10 seconds to ensure even contact with the pan.
- Sear the salmon, undisturbed, for 4 to 5 minutes until the skin is golden brown and crispy.
- Flip the salmon fillets carefully. Reduce the heat to medium-low.
- Add the butter and minced garlic to the skillet. The butter will melt and foam.
- Tilt the pan slightly and use a spoon to baste the melted garlic butter over the top of the salmon fillets continuously for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the salmon reaches your desired doneness (internal temperature of 145°F).
- Remove the skillet from the heat. Drizzle the lemon juice over the fish.
- Transfer the salmon to plates, spoon any remaining garlic butter sauce from the pan over the top, and garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
- For best results, allow the salmon to sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before cooking.
- If your fillets are very thick (over 1.5 inches), finish cooking in a 400°F oven after searing the skin side.
- Asparagus or steamed green beans pair well with this dish.
