Description
Make crispy asparagus spears coated in Parmesan cheese using an air fryer or oven. This recipe creates a simple, flavorful vegetable side dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh asparagus, tough ends trimmed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 380F (195C) or your oven to 400F (200C). If baking, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place the trimmed asparagus spears in a large bowl.
- Drizzle the asparagus with olive oil and toss to coat evenly.
- In a small bowl, mix together the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Sprinkle the cheese mixture over the asparagus and toss gently until the spears are well coated.
- If using an air fryer, place the asparagus in a single layer in the basket. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the cheese is golden and the asparagus is tender-crisp.
- If baking, spread the asparagus in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, checking at 10 minutes, until the cheese is browned and the asparagus is tender-crisp.
- Serve immediately with your preferred dipping sauce.
Notes
- For extra crispiness when baking, ensure the asparagus is in a single layer and not crowded on the pan.
- You can substitute the air fryer method with deep frying for a faster result, but this adds more fat.
- For a low-carb option, use almond flour mixed with the Parmesan cheese before coating.
