Description
A simple recipe for baking asparagus coated in a crispy parmesan crust until tender-crisp.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, finely grated
- 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Toss the trimmed asparagus spears with the olive oil on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese, panko breadcrumbs, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Sprinkle the cheese mixture evenly over the asparagus, pressing lightly so the coating adheres to the spears.
- Arrange the asparagus in a single layer on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 10 to 14 minutes, or until the asparagus is tender-crisp and the crust is golden brown. Cooking time depends on the thickness of your spears.
- Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
Notes
- For an air fryer, cook at 380 degrees Fahrenheit for 7 to 9 minutes, checking halfway through for even crisping.
- Use fresh, finely grated Parmesan for the best crust texture.
- If your asparagus spears are very thick, blanch them in boiling water for 1 minute before coating and baking to ensure they cook through evenly.
