Description
Make easy, baked Philly Cheesesteak Sliders using thinly sliced steak, melted cheese, and soft slider buns for a simple party appetizer or meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs thinly sliced ribeye steak
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 12 slider buns (Hawaiian rolls work well)
- 1 cup shredded Provolone cheese
- 0.5 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until softened and lightly browned, about 8 to 10 minutes. Remove onions and set aside.
- Add the thinly sliced steak to the same skillet. Cook quickly, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned. Season with salt and pepper. Drain off any excess liquid.
- Return the cooked onions to the skillet with the steak. Stir to combine.
- Slice the slider buns horizontally, keeping the top and bottom halves connected if possible. Place the bottom halves of the buns in the prepared baking dish.
- Distribute the steak and onion mixture evenly over the bottom buns.
- Sprinkle the Provolone and Mozzarella cheeses over the steak mixture.
- Place the top halves of the buns over the cheese.
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and Worcestershire sauce. Brush this mixture evenly over the top of the assembled sliders.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil. Bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and the tops are lightly golden brown.
- Slice the sliders apart and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use ribeye or top round steak cut very thin for the best texture.
- If you prefer a sharper flavor, substitute American cheese for the Provolone.
- You can add thinly sliced green bell peppers or mushrooms to the onions while sautéing.
