Description

A festive marble cake with red and blue swirls, perfect for Memorial Day celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • White frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, oil, and water. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  3. Divide batter evenly into three bowls. Leave one bowl plain. Add red food coloring to one bowl and blue food coloring to the other until desired colors are reached.
  4. Spoon alternating dollops of each color batter into the prepared pan.
  5. Swirl the colors gently with a knife or toothpick to create a marble effect. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Once cooled, frost the cake with white frosting.

Notes

  • You can use any brand of white cake mix.
  • Adjust food coloring quantities to get your desired shades of red and blue.
  • Do not over-swirl the batter, or the colors will blend too much.
