- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 8 ounces cremini mushrooms (sliced)
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Form the mixture into 4-6 oval patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through. Remove patties from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until mushrooms are tender and browned.
- Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth and heavy cream until smooth. Bring the gravy to a simmer, stirring constantly, until it thickens.
- Stir in Dijon mustard. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Return the cooked patties to the skillet with the gravy. Spoon gravy over the patties.
- Simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving.

- Use ground beef with some fat for juicy patties.
- Do not overmix the meat to keep the patties tender.
- Adjust gravy thickness by adding more broth or simmering longer.
