Description

Simple and delicious potatoes cooked over a campfire.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large potatoes, washed and scrubbed
  • 1/4 cup olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: Garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, fresh herbs

Instructions

  1. Cut the potatoes into quarters or chunks.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the potatoes with olive oil or butter, salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings.
  3. Wrap the seasoned potatoes tightly in heavy-duty aluminum foil, creating a sealed packet.
  4. Place the foil packet directly in the embers of a campfire.
  5. Cook for 20-30 minutes, flipping the packet occasionally, until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
  6. Carefully remove the packet from the fire and let it cool slightly before opening.
  7. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Cooking time will vary depending on the heat of your campfire.
  • Be careful when handling the hot foil packet.
  • You can pre-cook the potatoes slightly at home to reduce campfire cooking time.
