Description

A simple recipe for making a gooey chocolate fondue that captures the flavor of classic s’mores, perfect for dipping and sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup marshmallow fluff or small marshmallows
  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs (for rimming optional)
  • Assorted dipping items (graham crackers, strawberries, pretzels)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your serving dish by lightly greasing the inside if using a fondue pot. If you want a graham cracker rim, mix crumbs with a little melted butter and press onto the sides of the serving bowl.
  2. Combine the chocolate chips and heavy cream in a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water (double boiler method). Stir frequently until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Do not let the water touch the bottom of the bowl.
  3. Alternatively, place chocolate chips and cream in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until smooth.
  4. Remove the melted chocolate mixture from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. If using marshmallow fluff, gently fold it into the melted chocolate until just combined for a marbled effect. If using whole marshmallows, place them on top of the melted chocolate and let them sit for 2 minutes before gently stirring them in until mostly melted and gooey.
  6. Transfer the fondue to a small slow cooker or a fondue pot set to low heat to keep it warm for serving.
  7. Serve immediately with graham crackers and other desired dipping items.

Notes

  • Use good quality chocolate for the best flavor and melting consistency. Milk chocolate can be substituted, but you may need slightly less cream.
  • Keep the heat low when melting to prevent the chocolate from scorching or seizing.
  • If the fondue becomes too thick while serving, stir in a teaspoon of warm heavy cream to loosen it.
