Description
A classic Southern dessert featuring layers of creamy vanilla pudding, fresh banana slices, and crisp Nilla Wafers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 2 cups cold milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 (11 ounce) box Nilla Wafers
- 4 ripe bananas, sliced
- Whipped cream or meringue, for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the pudding according to package directions, using 2 cups of cold milk. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a 9×13 inch dish, arrange a layer of Nilla Wafers on the bottom.
- Top the wafers with a layer of sliced bananas.
- Pour half of the prepared pudding over the bananas.
- Repeat the layers: Nilla Wafers, bananas, and the remaining pudding.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the wafers to soften.
- Before serving, top with whipped cream or meringue, if desired.
Notes
- For best results, use ripe but not overly soft bananas.
- The longer the pudding chills, the softer the wafers will become.
- You can make individual servings in parfait glasses or small bowls.
