Description

A classic Southern dessert featuring layers of creamy vanilla pudding, fresh banana slices, and crisp Nilla Wafers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (11 ounce) box Nilla Wafers
  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • Whipped cream or meringue, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pudding according to package directions, using 2 cups of cold milk. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  2. In a 9×13 inch dish, arrange a layer of Nilla Wafers on the bottom.
  3. Top the wafers with a layer of sliced bananas.
  4. Pour half of the prepared pudding over the bananas.
  5. Repeat the layers: Nilla Wafers, bananas, and the remaining pudding.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the wafers to soften.
  7. Before serving, top with whipped cream or meringue, if desired.

Notes

  • For best results, use ripe but not overly soft bananas.
  • The longer the pudding chills, the softer the wafers will become.
  • You can make individual servings in parfait glasses or small bowls.
