Description

Create a comforting Spiced Pear Crisp, perfect for using up autumn pears. This recipe features warm spices and a crunchy oat topping, offering a delightful taste of the season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups sliced pears (about 4-5 medium)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced pears with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour the mixture into an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and salt.
  4. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Evenly sprinkle the oat topping over the pears in the baking dish.
  6. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the pears are tender and bubbly.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
  • You can adjust the spices to your preference.
  • If your pears are very ripe, you may need to reduce the sugar slightly.
