Description

Make your Halloween party spooktacular with these fun and fiery Spooky Mummy Jalapeño Poppers. They’re easy to make and guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large jalapeño peppers
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped cooked bacon (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Black edible marker or small black olives for mummy eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes. Wear gloves to avoid irritation.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, cooked bacon (if using), garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Stuff each jalapeño half generously with the cream cheese mixture.
  5. Set up a dredging station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with the beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
  6. Dip each stuffed jalapeño half first into the flour, then into the egg, and finally coat thoroughly with the panko breadcrumbs.
  7. Place the coated jalapeño poppers on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the poppers are golden brown and the jalapeños are tender.
  9. Once cooled slightly, use a black edible marker or small pieces of black olive to draw mummy eyes on the cream cheese.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy the spooky heat!

Notes

  • For extra spicy poppers, leave some seeds in the jalapeños.
  • If you don’t have bacon, you can omit it or substitute with other cooked, chopped meats.
  • Ensure the cream cheese is well-softened for easy mixing and stuffing.
  • Panko breadcrumbs give a crispier coating than regular breadcrumbs.
