Description

Prepare a quick, flavorful weeknight dinner using this one-pan recipe featuring savory sausage coated in a sweet and sticky honey garlic glaze served with pasta.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 8 ounces rotini or bowtie pasta
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until lightly browned, about 4 minutes. Remove the sausage and set it aside.
  2. Add the chopped onion to the same skillet and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, heavy cream, honey, soy sauce, and cornstarch until the cornstarch is dissolved.
  4. Pour the liquid mixture into the skillet. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in the uncooked pasta and Italian seasoning. Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to medium-low. Cook for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
  6. Return the cooked sausage to the skillet. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy. Season with salt and pepper as needed.
  7. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • Use smoked sausage or fully cooked Italian sausage for the best texture and flavor in this quick skillet meal.
  • If the sauce becomes too thick before the pasta is done, add a splash more broth or water.
  • For a slight kick, add 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes with the garlic.
