Description
Follow these steps to make a refreshing, layered iced Strawberry Matcha Latte at home.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon matcha powder
- 2 tablespoons hot water (not boiling)
- 1/2 cup strawberry puree or syrup
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 teaspoon sweetener (optional, adjust to taste)
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Prepare the strawberry base: If using fresh strawberries, blend 1/2 cup of strawberries with sweetener until smooth to create a puree. If using syrup, measure out 1/2 cup.
- Place the strawberry puree or syrup into the bottom of a tall glass.
- Fill the glass with ice cubes.
- Pour the milk over the ice and strawberry layer.
- Prepare the matcha: Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl. Add 2 tablespoons of hot water. Whisk vigorously in a ‘W’ or ‘M’ motion until the matcha is completely smooth and frothy, with no clumps.
- Slowly pour the prepared matcha mixture over the back of a spoon onto the milk layer to create a distinct green layer on top.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For the best matcha flavor, use water that is around 175°F (80°C), not boiling.
- Use oat milk or almond milk for a non-dairy version.
- If you prefer a sweeter drink, add sweetener directly to the matcha mixture or the strawberry base.
- To achieve a cleaner layer, ensure your milk is very cold before pouring the matcha on top.
