Description

Enjoy a taste of classic Chinese cuisine with this easy Sweet and Sour Pork Stir-Fry. It features tender, crispy pork pieces coated in a vibrant, tangy sauce, perfect for a delicious homemade meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pork tenderloin, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1/2 cup pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • For the Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss pork pieces with cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the pork in a single layer and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove pork from skillet and set aside.
  3. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add pineapple chunks, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and onion. Stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
  4. While vegetables are cooking, whisk together ketchup, rice vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, cornstarch, and water in a small bowl until smooth.
  5. Pour the sauce into the skillet with the vegetables. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Return the cooked pork to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce.
  7. Serve hot, perhaps over steamed rice.

Notes

  • For extra crispy pork, ensure the oil is hot before adding the pork and don’t overcrowd the pan.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like carrots or snap peas.
  • Adjust the sugar and vinegar to your preference for sweetness and tanginess.
