Description

A simple recipe for coating fresh strawberries with melted white chocolate, perfect for a quick, elegant dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, washed and completely dried
  • 8 ounces good quality white chocolate, chopped or chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother melting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberries: Wash the strawberries and dry them thoroughly. Moisture will cause the chocolate to seize. Leave the stems and leaves intact for easy handling.
  2. Melt the white chocolate: Place the chopped white chocolate and the optional oil/shortening in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted. Do not overheat. Alternatively, melt the chocolate using a double boiler over simmering water, stirring constantly until smooth.
  3. Dip or drizzle: Hold a strawberry by the stem. Dip the bottom half into the melted white chocolate, or use a fork to drizzle the chocolate over the top surface.
  4. Set the chocolate: Place the coated strawberries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper.
  5. Chill: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 15 to 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set.
  6. Serve immediately or store in a cool place.

Notes

  • Ensure your strawberries are completely dry before dipping; any water will ruin the chocolate texture.
  • For a thinner drizzle, add a tiny bit more coconut oil to the melted chocolate.
  • If you want to add decoration, sprinkle fine sugar or small nonpareils onto the chocolate immediately after dipping, before it sets.
