Description

Make juicy, cheese-stuffed burgers quickly using your air fryer. This method cooks the patties evenly, resulting in a melted cheese center and a slightly crisp exterior.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 slices sharp cheddar cheese (or preferred melting cheese)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion, condiments

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Do not overmix.
  2. Divide the meat mixture into 8 equal portions.
  3. Take one portion and flatten it into a thin patty shape, about 4 inches wide.
  4. Place two slices of cheese in the center of the patty.
  5. Take a second, similarly sized patty portion and place it over the cheese.
  6. Carefully pinch and seal the edges of the two patties together completely, forming one thick, stuffed patty. Ensure no cheese is exposed. Repeat for the remaining portions.
  7. Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.
  8. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the stuffed patties in the basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch. Work in batches if necessary.
  9. Air fry for 10 minutes.
  10. Flip the burgers carefully. Continue to air fry for another 4 to 6 minutes for medium doneness, or longer for well done. Check the internal temperature for safety.
  11. Remove the burgers from the air fryer. Toast the buns in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes if desired.
  12. Assemble your burgers with your favorite toppings and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For the best melt, use cheese like Monterey Jack, Gruyère, or a good quality American cheese.
  • If your patties seem too loose, chill them in the refrigerator for 15 minutes before air frying to help them hold their shape.
  • The internal temperature for safe consumption of ground beef is 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
