Description

A straightforward recipe for a warm, rich chocolate cobbler dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top of the batter.
  6. Carefully pour the 1 cup of boiling water over the chocolate chips and batter. Do not stir.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the top is set and the edges are bubbly.
  8. Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for best flavor.
  • You can substitute buttermilk for regular milk for a slightly tangier result.
