Description

This classic tuna noodle casserole recipe brings together tender egg noodles, flaky canned tuna, creamy soup, and gooey cheese for a comforting and easy meal. It’s a timeless dish that feels like a warm hug.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 2 (5 ounce) cans tuna in water, drained
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup or cream of celery soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup frozen peas (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs (for topping, optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the egg noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain well.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cooked and drained egg noodles, drained tuna, cream of mushroom (or celery) soup, milk, and frozen peas (if using). Stir everything together until well combined.
  4. Stir in 3/4 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the casserole. If desired, sprinkle with crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs for a crispy topping.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and heated through. If you added a topping, bake until golden brown.
  8. Remove from oven and let stand for a few minutes before serving.
