Description

Make tender shrimp coated in a rich butter sauce topped with intensely flavorful, crispy fried garlic. This recipe is quick and perfect for a weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced fresh garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine or chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp completely dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, combine the olive oil and sliced garlic over medium-low heat. Cook slowly, stirring often, until the garlic turns golden brown and crispy, about 5 to 7 minutes. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
  3. Use a slotted spoon to remove the crispy garlic from the skillet and set it aside on a paper towel-lined plate. Leave the garlic-infused oil in the skillet.
  4. Increase the heat to medium. Add 4 tablespoons of the butter to the skillet. Once melted, add the shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet. Let it melt, then pour in the white wine or broth. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let the liquid reduce slightly for about 1 minute.
  6. Stir in the lemon juice. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet. Toss gently to coat the shrimp in the sauce.
  7. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in half of the reserved crispy fried garlic and the chopped parsley.
  8. Serve the shrimp immediately, topping each portion with the remaining crispy garlic.

Notes

  • For the crispiest garlic, use very thin slices and maintain low heat during frying.
  • You can substitute prawns for shrimp if you prefer.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed rice or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
