Description
A simple recipe for making refreshing, floral lavender-infused lemonade from scratch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
- 1 cup culinary dried lavender buds
- 4 cups cold water (for mixing)
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Make the lavender simple syrup: Combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Remove the syrup from the heat. Stir in the 1 cup of dried lavender buds.
- Let the lavender steep in the hot syrup for 30 minutes. Do not steep longer than 30 minutes to avoid bitterness.
- Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean container, pressing lightly on the buds to extract liquid. Discard the lavender buds. Let the syrup cool completely.
- In a large pitcher, combine the cooled lavender simple syrup and the 1 cup of fresh lemon juice.
- Add 4 cups of cold water to the pitcher and stir well to combine.
- Taste the lemonade. Adjust sweetness or tartness by adding a little more water or lemon juice if needed.
- Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving over ice.
Notes
- For a sparkling version, replace 2 cups of the cold water with club soda or sparkling water just before serving.
- If you prefer a stronger floral taste, steep the lavender for 45 minutes, but taste frequently after 30 minutes to check for bitterness.
- Garnish individual glasses with thin lemon slices or a sprig of fresh lavender.
