- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas well.
- Stir in the melted butter.
- Mix in the baking soda, salt, sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
- Stir in the flour until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the chopped walnuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 50-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and moisture.
- For extra moisture, you can add 1/4 cup of sour cream or yogurt to the batter.
- Toast the walnuts lightly before adding them for a richer flavor.
- If you don’t have walnuts, pecans or almonds also work well.
